The financial benefits of protecting a family’s assets through long-term care insurance versus other types of investments will be explored in a free, public presentation at 4:45 p.m., Thursday, March 15, in the University Events Room of the University of Southern Maine’s Glickman Family Library, Portland.

The presenters include USM School of Business Professors Joel Gold and David VanderLinden, along with USM School of Business graduate student John Herald. The presentation is based on their award-winning paper “Risk Management for the Family: The Desirability of Long-Term Care Insurance.” The paper, which recently won a $10,000 national award from the Financial Planning Association, was presented at the association’s annual meeting before an audience of more than 500.
