Summer Day Camp sign-up:

Our recreation day camp offers children ages 6 to 12 a wide variety of fun, safe and stimulating activities that will excite and fulfill both the camper and parent. Last summer, it was reported by parents that their children were going home, eating supper and going to bed early and exhausted.

On a weekly basis, the campers are participating in activities such as arts & crafts, sports, special events, board games, swimming, roller skating, going on field trips, weekly themes and much more. Camp is held at Newbegin and the surrounding facilities (outdoor basketball & volleyball court, tetherball, playgrounds, soccer/baseball fields).

Supervision of the children is our primary concern and priority. We maintain a staff to camper ratio of 7 to 1. The staff are a collaboration of professional, college and high school individuals that have returned over the past summers. Camp starts on Monday, July 2 and will end this year on Friday, Aug. 24 (8 full weeks). Camp starts each day at 8 a.m. with drop-off and ends at 4 p.m. with pick-up.

We do offer extended care starting at 7 a.m. ($1) and late pick-up at 5:30 p.m. ($1.50) for working parents. The fees do not include Happy Wheels rollerskating (optional), Friday field trips or the extended care. The 2007 camp fees are listed below. For more information call us at 657-2323.

• Full time camper (all 8 weeks): Gray resident $754. Non-resident $892.

Junior Track program:

Boys and girls will be grouped by ages and will compete in five events: softball throw, long jump, 50-meter dash, 100-meter run and low hurdles (we use mini-hurdles for the youngest groups). The focus is healthy exercise, participating and having fun. Limited to 40 on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registrations were sent home through the schools already so check the backpacks. Registrations received after May 7 require a $10 late fee. Forms are available at Newbegin and Gray Town Office. Fee is $30. Instructors are Dean Bennett and the Patriot high school track team members.
