The Gorham Rams (1-0) opened their quest for the state championship with a 36-12 win over South Portland Friday night.
Carson Walker and Justin Villacci led the Rams’ offense, combining for almost 200 rushing yards.
For the Riots, the offense was paced by Tuan Tran, who had over 100 yards rushing, which included a 51-yard second quarter touchdown run.
The Rams’ next game is this Friday night at home against Portland. The Bulldogs come into Gorham on the heels of a 34-6 loss to Westbrook at home last Friday.
South Portland’s next game is a road contest next Saturday afternoon against Cheverus at 12:30 p.m. Cheverus will also be looking for its first win, coming off a 41-6 loss at Bonny Eagle last week.
