Published reports say a 19-year-old Belfast woman suffered leg injuries after being struck by another car on the Maine Turnpike in New Gloucester this morning.

Jacilyn Smith was driving north on the turnpike near the mile-70 marker when she lost control of her Volkswagen Beetle and spun out at around 7:35 a.m.

Smith was in the breakdown lane when she stepped out of her car to check for damage, and was struck by a Honda Civic driven by Portland resident Elizabeth Park, 47.

The accident was the most serious of five or six caused by icy conditions on the turnpike between, mostly between Gray and Sabbatus.
