This Friday indoor track and field athletes from all over New England will gather at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Facility for the 21st Annual New England Interscholastic Indoor Track and Field Championships. Maine will be well represented at the meet.

Scarborough High School, which finished with the state champion girls team and runner-up boys team qualified seven athletes for the meet. The 800 and 3200 meter Red Storm girls relay teams qualified. Melissa Dellatore qualified in the two mile run thanks to a 12:22.57 run earlier this season. Catie Funk qualified in the shot put with a throw of over 36 feet. Lily Parenteau qualified in the high jump with a five foot, two inch jump this year. The Red Storm qualified two long jumpers. Lauren Blaisdell and Emila Scheemaker both jumped over 16 feet this year. Annie Mills qualified in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 8.69. Whitney Chamberlain qualified in the 100 meters with a time of 3:05.83.

The Scarborough boys qualified three individuals and two relay teams. The 3200 and 800 meter relay teams qualified. Individual qualifiers are Alex Dulac in the high jump, Scott Delano in the 600 meters. He qualified with a time of 1:27.89. Nate Hathaway qualified in the one mile run with a time of 4:35.01.

South Portland qualified one boys relay team and two individuals. The Red Riots 800 meter relay team qualified with a time of 1:36.78. Indivdual South Portland qualifiers are Ian Golder in the 600 meters with a time of 1:27.84 and David Hardison in the 55 meter hurdles. His qualifying time was 7.93 seconds.

Cape Elizabeth qualified three individuals and the girls’ 3200 meter relay team. Lauren Fecteau qualified for the Capers in the one mile run and Marita Stressinger qualified in the two mile. Matt Rand also qualified for Cape in the boys’ two mile.
