Numerous local high school indoor track and field athletes were recently honored with end-of-season awards.

Scarborough junior Bradley Nakanishi was named to the all-state first team by the Maine Track and Cross-Country Coaches Association. The state champion Scarborough girls were also well represented on the MTCCCA all-state team. Seniors Annie Mills and Lily Parenteau, and juniors Lauren Blaisdell and Catie Funk all received honorable mention.

Scarborough junior Sam Chick was named a Southwestern Maine Activities Association boys all-star in the senior 600-meter run, posting a top time of 1:19.50. Sophomore teammate Nick Violette was an all-star in the junior 600 (1:21.80), while Red Storm sophomore Nate Hathaway was named an SMAA all-star in both the open mile (4:38.70) and open two-mile (10:13.70). Red Storm sophomore Zach Alfieri was named an all-star in the junior shot put (41-1) and junior teammate Alex Dulac was an all-star in the open high jump (6-4). The Red Storm junior relay team of freshmen Colin Cain, Alex Pok, Harim Park and sophomore Violette received all-star recognition with a time of 1:06.6.

The Scarborough girls team SMAA all stars were Melissa Dellatore in the mile (5:35.6) and junior 800 (2:30.9), Jenny Snyder in the junior hurdles (6.86), Mills in the senior hurdles (6.72) and the senior 200 (28.4), Whitney Chamberlain in the open 600 (1:35.7) and senior 800 (2:25.0), Kira Gordon in the open 300 (41.1), Funk in the senior shot put (35-5.25), Parenteau in the high jump (5-2), Jenna VanDam in the senior 400 (1:50.2), and the senior relay team (1:50.3).

Olivia Hendry of the South Portland girls track team was named an SMAA all-star in the senior 800 (2:28.6).

From Cape Elizabeth, Matt Rand was named to the Western Maine Conference boys all-star first team in the mile. Brenden Shields of the Capers was named to the second team in the triple jump.

On the girls side, Cape’s Emma Hockmuth was named to the WMC first team in the pole vault. Teammate Marita Stressenger was named to the second team in the 800, mile and two mile. The Capers’ girls 4 x 800 relay team also received all-star honors.
