On Oct. 11, several former members of the Scarborough High School track team ran in the New England Collegiate Open Cross Country Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.

Seven former Scarborough cross country runners were on the approximately 50 college teams running in the event, including all four members of the Red Storm 4×800 relay team that set a Maine record in high school. Now running for four different schools, Allison Chamberlain, Hilary Curtis, Erica Jesseman and Kaitlynn Saldanya all were in Boston for the event. Saldanya represented Vermont’s Middlebury College, running the varsity race in 20:04. Jesseman, running for the University of New Hampshire, also ran the varsity race in Boston, finishing in 18:22.

Chamberlain, who now runs for the University of Vermont, completed the JV race in 20:16 and Curtis, representing Stonehill College in Massachusetts, also ran the JV race in 20:48.

On the men’s side, three former Red Storm runners all ran in the varsity race. Mike Griffin, who represented Springfield College, had a time of 25:52. Chris Harmon, a member of the University of Maine’s track squad, finished in 26:24 and Ben Talbot, running for Stonehill, completed the course in 26:47.
