Cutline (BUX-HOLLIS kids fishing derby) – A large contingent of children and adults attend the awards ceremony following the annual youth fishing derby on Feb. 15 at the Buxton-Hollis Rod and Gun Club. Steve Wilson, one of the derby organizers, reports brook trout, pickerel and bass were caught in the derby held at Deer Pond in Hollis by children ages 3-15. Wilson said Ian Lau of Sanford, who caught the largest trout, was one of 25 trophy winners from 87 entries. Wilson said all the children were fed and awarded door prizes.

Avery earns honors

Joshua L. Avery has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Northeastern University in Boston, Mass.

Avery is majoring in physical therapy.
