SCARBOROUGH — The public is invited to attend “Skating for Noora,” a fundraiser from 5:15-7:15 p.m., Saturday, March 14 at Happy Wheels on Warren Avenue in Portland. Proceeds will benefit Noora Afif Abdulhameed, 7, of Iraq, who came to Portland for multiple surgeries to repair damage from a bullet wound to her head.
The event was conceived by Harrison Tice of Tenney Lane. Tice, a fifth-grader at Breakwater School in Portland, got the idea after completing a school project on the Iraq War and researching organizations that assist the victims of war.
Admission to the skating party is $4.50. Skaters may bring their own roller or in-line skates or borrow them free of charge from Happy Wheels. All proceeds from the event will be donated. For more information, call 885-1373 or visit happywheelsskatecenter.com.
