Plowman excels

Lawrence Academy in Groton, Mass., has congratulated junior Elizabeth Plowman, who earned academic honors for the spring trimester.

Plowman is the daughter of Bonny and Stephen Plowman of Gorham.

Clark graduates

Grant S. Goodrich and Kirsten A. VanWyck, both of Gorham, received bachelor of arts degrees in commencement exercises in May at Clark University in Worcester, Mass.

Goodrich, who graduated magna cum laude, is a graduate of Champlain Valley Union High School.

VanWyck is a graduate of Cheverus High School.

Academic honors

Sarah Alice Slater of Gorham has been named to the dean’s honor list for the spring semester at Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa. Slater is a junior.

Gazebo concert

“Rog & Roy” will be in concert 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21, on the lawn at the Public Safety Building, 270 Main St., Gorham.

They will play Caribbean tunes. Take a picnic, blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the show. Parking is available at the Narragansett Elementary School.

Gorham Recreation Department sponsors the free concert, which is part of a summer series. In case of rain, the concert will be held in Shaw Gym in the Recreation Department at the Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.

The farm market opens at 5:30 p.m.

Learn companion gardening

Gorham Recreation Department, 75 South St., is sponsoring a program about companion planting 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

Mihku Anderson, a master gardener, will teach basic companion planting principles. “Just like people, plants prefer certain company over others. Companion planting is the process of providing plants with the ‘company’ they like best. Companion planting can provide a variety of benefits for plants, including pest management, flavor enhancement, and nutrient supplements,” a Recreation Department statement said.

The $5 registration fee supports the Gorham Community Garden. For more information, call Gorham Rec at 222-1630.
