The Westbrook Little League All-Stars had a strong showing in this summer’s 2009 District 6 All-Star playoffs. Although the scores did not reflect it, Westbrook showed a lot of passion for the game, and with the heart and determination they showed, the team sent a message to District 6 that they will be a team to watch out for in years to come.

Westbrook Little League’s D.J. Hendrickson hit a monstrous home run at his first at bat for the All-Stars, however the team came up short in a 5-2 loss against the Windham All-Stars. Noah Oliver had a strong performance, but the aggressive play of Windham prevailed.

Westbrook Little League eliminated Bayside with Tyler Rawding pitching a complete game with a lights-out performance. Bayside had a chance in the bottom of the fifth with runners at second and third when Adam Blackmore made a great catch down the left field line to secure the victory.

Westbrook Little League lost their third game 5-3 to the Cumberland All-Stars. Evan Scott had all three put outs in the first inning and Hendrickson had another enormous homer. All of the Westbrook players had a strong performance in the field, especially Parker Chabot, who had an All-Star performance behind the plate for all three games. He threw out all four baserunners who tried to steal.

Hendrickson went 6 for 9 with four home runs and 25 total bases. Johnny Tibbetts played a strong role in center field. His “I’ll play anywhere” attitude was what this team was looking for, and he had a great postseason at center field, rather than his usual position as catcher.

A special thanks to the players from the coaches who appreciated all of their dedication, and the “don’t give up” attitude. You all made Westbrook very proud. And a special thanks also goes out to the coaches for all of their time and dedication the Westbrook Little League program.
