FREEPORT — An exhibit featuring Valentine’s Day greeting cards and postcards from the turn of the century through the 1940s opens at the Freeport Historical Society, 45 Main St., on Thursday, Feb. 4.
The items are from the historical society archives and private collections. Beverages will be available.
On Sunday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m., Michelle A Morgan, a doctoral candidate in visual and material culture at Yale University, will present excerpts from her master’s thesis, “Your Face is like a Book: Reading the Images of Historic Postcards and Valentines.” The discussion will incorporate love, affection and desire as displayed on and through the historical valentine cards.
