OLD ORCHARD BEACH — A 30-year-old man, who was heard yelling for help this morning about 50 yards from shore, has died.
The United States Coast Guard confirmed tonight that the man, whose identity has not been released, drowned.
Old Orchard Beach police, who are investigating the matter, were expected to issue a press release at some point.
A bystander heard the man yelling for help and notified authorities Sunday morning. Town firefighters saw the man go under the water and fail to resurface.
It is not clear how the man ended up in the water.
