LIMERICK — A North Waterboro woman is being credited with rescuing a mother and her two children from their submerged car in the Little Ossipee River.

The York County Sheriff’s Department says a car driven by 24-year-old Charanay Pok hit a guardrail and catapulted into the water Thursday afternoon. Officials say Pok was able to free her 3-year-old daughter from her carseat, but lost her grip on the toddler as she tried to get out her 8-month-old son.

Lisa Boisvert, who drove by minutes after the crash, jumped into the river and helped pull Pok and her two children to safety. They were not seriously injured.

Investigators say without Boisvert’s help it’s possible both children would have died.
