AUBURN — The man who hanged himself at the Maine jail in Auburn has been identified as 53-year-old George Magee of Lewiston.

The Sun Journal newspaper of Lewiston says Magee was being held at the Androscoggin County jail for a probation violation.

Meanwhile, investigators from the Maine Department of Corrections were at the jail Monday trying to determine the circumstances surrounding Magee’s death.
