AUBURN — The man who hanged himself at the Maine jail in Auburn has been identified as 53-year-old George Magee of Lewiston.
The Sun Journal newspaper of Lewiston says Magee was being held at the Androscoggin County jail for a probation violation.
Meanwhile, investigators from the Maine Department of Corrections were at the jail Monday trying to determine the circumstances surrounding Magee’s death.
Correctional officers found Magee on Saturday. He had hanged himself with a bedsheet.
