Fall registration for Falmouth Youth Soccer’s U-9 through U-14 boys’ and girls’ teams is now open. Any child who is 8 years old by July 31 and/or going into the third grade is eligible. Evaluations for U-12 and U-13 girls will be held May 4 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. U-14 boys and girls tryouts are May 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. U-12 and U-13 boys evaluations are May 5 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. All tryouts are at the Portland Sports Complex. Portland rugby team wins again

The Portland boys’ U-19 rugby team, the “Power Pigs,” improved to 2-0 Saturday with a 34-7 win over Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire. Flanker Jack McDonald from Cape Elizabeth had two quick tries, each converted by flyhalf Francisco Marques of Greely. Marques and McDonald added single tries before the half to make it 24-0. In the second stanza, center Chase Rochon of Greely scored and lock Thorn Chhloeum of Scarborough closed out with a try on the game’s final play to account for the final score. Portland returns to action Saturday at 2:30 when it hosts Upper Valley, N.H., at Fox Street Field. For more on the team, visit powerpigrugby.org.

Freeport student honored as scholar-athlete

Freeport senior Hannah Schuchert is one of 10 graduating high school students who will earn a scholarship at the 35th annual Maine Sports Hall of Fame awards banquet on June 13 at the Italian Heritage Center in Portland. Tickets are $35. FMI, 899-0569.

Local lacrosse coaches hosting clinic

Yarmout girls’ varsity lacrosse coach Dorothy Holt and NYA coach Julia Sterling are hosting a free girls’ youth coaches/parents clinic on Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the NYA gymnasium. The clinic is designed to help youth and middle school coaches and parents understand how to teach the basics of lacrosse, as well as learn new drills and techniques. Baseball/softball program offered for children with disabilities

Challenger Division baseball/softball, for children with physical and/or mental disabilities or developmental delays, will meet Sundays from 2 to 3 p.m. The league is open for children ages 5 to 18 in the Greater Portland area.
