More than 150 audience members have gathered at the MaineToday Media/WGME-13 Great Debate for Democratic candidates, which started at 7 p.m. in the Irish Heritage center on Gray Street in Portland.
Gregg Lagerquist is moderating the debate, attended by Pat McGowan, Steven Rowe, Libby Mitchell, and Rosa Scarcelli.

“It’s our pleasure this evening to partner with WGME is the first of two of what we are calling the Great Debates,” said Richard Connor, Publisher of MaineToday Media. “We think it’s our duty to help introduce these candidates.”
The candidates have been speaking about energy, balancing the budget and whether they would raise taxes, leadership, education, and welfare reform.
