PORTLAND — The 24th annual Southern Maine Pride Parade takes place Saturday, June 19, at 12:30 p.m. in downtown Portland.

The parade, which serves as the traditional launch for pride activities, will feature appearances and speeches by Police Chief James Craig and “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” host Carson Kressley, who is performing at the Ogunquit Playhouse this summer. The parade runs from Monument Square down Congress Street, takes a right at High Street and ends at Deering Oaks Park.

The Pride Festival takes place in Deering Oaks Park this year, with performances by Vivid Motion Dance Company and comedian Khris Francis, among others. There will also be food vendors and activities children. The festival runs from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A change this year: the Pride Pier Dance is moving indoors, to Port City Music Hall on Congress Street. That party runs from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
