PORTLAND — Bangor Savings Bank plans to open two new branches in the city next month.

The branches will be at 883 Forest Ave. and 180 Middle St. Nine new employees will work at the locations.

The new branches are part of a Portland area expansion announced last month.

“We have been strategic in our plan for growth and fortunate in that the people of this area have responded in a very positive manner,”  Yellow Light Breen, the bank’s chief strategic officer, said in a statement.

The Forest Avenue location is a former TD Bank branch that closed earlier this spring. Bangor Savings Bank has hired Darrell Gill and Robin Reed – the former branch manager and head teller for TD Bank at that location – as branch manager and assistant branch manager.
