Royer helps First Title post a shutout over Morrill Post in American Legion opener
Joey Royer had three hits and pitched three shutout innings to lead First Title to a 9-0 victory over Morrill Post in an American Legion baseball season opener Friday at South Portland.
Royer had a triple and a double, scored three runs and drove in two. Louie DiStasio added three hits, including a triple, two RBI and two runs.
NECBL: Robert Nixon allowed three hits in seven innings to lead the North Adams SteepleCats (7-3) to a 3-0 win over the Sanford Mainers (7-3) at North Adams, Mass.
Shane Davis struck out four, walked none and allowed three runs on eight hits for the Mainers.
TWILIGHT LEAGUE: Chris Bernard hit a three-run homer as Lender’s Network (3-2) scored four times in the sixth for a 4-2 win over Aero Heating and Ventilating (3-2).
Greg Holmes allowed two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and a walk in seven innings for the win.
Travis Adams added an RBI single for Aero.
