Former Gorham High standout Wilson named UMaine women’s soccer captain

Kelsey Wilson, a 2007 graduate of Gorham High, has been named captain of the University of Maine women’s soccer team for the 2010 season.

Wilson, a senior midfielder, had three goals and four assists while playing in all 17 games in 2009.

Wilson was a two-time Maine Sunday Telegram All-State MVP in girls’ soccer.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE: Justin Collette hit a two-out double and scored on a single by Will Barnes in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Patriot Insurance (5-9) to a 3-2 win over Dead River (6-5) at Deering Oaks.

Matt Powers had three hits, including a double, and stole two bases for Patriot Insurance. Reliever Kyle Donaldson pitched three shutout innings for the win.

Todd Keneborus homered for Dead River.

• Ben Ives struck out nine in six innings and Dave Nealy hit a go-ahead single in the fourth inning to lead Lenders Network (9-5) to a 3-1 win over Ron Beaulieu & Co. (3-11) at Standish.

NECBL: Dustin Ramey gave up two hits and one walk in six shutout innings and Brett Mollenhauer had three hits and two RBI to lead the Sanford Mainers (16-11) to an 8-0 win over the visiting Holyoke Blue Sox (9-17).
