PORTLAND — Motorists should be prepared for possible delays by bridges on southbound Interstate 295.
The state Department of Transportation says contractors closed the center lane of the bridge crossing the Fore River today. A similar center lane closure for the bridge over Westbrook Street will begin Sunday night.
The southbound I-295 project involves the resurfacing of bridges and repairs as needed. Lane closures are in effect on 11 bridges in Portland.
Lanes are closed from right to left as crews progress with their work. Center lane closures will be in effect on the other nine bridges in the coming days.
