NEW YORK — Matt Kinney, a Bangor native and former major-league pitcher, received a 50-game suspension Tuesday for drug violations.
Kinney, 33, who last pitched in the majors in 2005 with San Francisco, was playing with the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate in Fresno, Calif.
Lachlan Hodge, who was pitching for the New York Mets’ rookie-league team in Kingsport, Tenn., also received a 50-game suspension.
Kinney and Hodge tested positive for amphetamines.
The suspensions took effect immediately and ended their seasons.
