A Cumberland County grand jury has charged a tanker truck driver with manslaughter, aggravated assault and reckless conduct with a weapon in connection with a Scarborough crash that killed a local high school student.

Nathan Allen, 38 of Casco, was driving an empty jet-fuel truck north on Payne Road in the rain at 5:25 p.m. on May 8. It collided with a car driven west on Holmes Road by Steven Delano, 18 who was headed to the prom with three friends.

Delano was killed and the three friends he was riding with were injured. The group was on its way to the Gorham High School prom.
