A 20-year-old Portland woman jumped off the Casco Bay Bridge this afternoon, sustaining serious injuries when she hit the Fore River.

Amanda Mason leapt from the South Portland side at 3 p.m., prompting a swift response from emergency workers, police said. Portland officers were able to get a ride from a fishing boat and were the first to reach the woman.

Rescue workers transported her to Maine Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
