SCARBOROUGH — Emily Sawchuck scored four goals to lead Cheverus High School to a 5-2 win over Bonny Eagle in the Class A Western Region field hockey championship today.

The fourth-seeded Stags (13-4) advance to the Class A state championship game Saturday at the University of Maine. Seventh-seeded Bonny Eagle finishes at 11-6.

Sarah LaQuerre also scored for Cheverus and Anna McDonough recorded two assists to help the Stags to their first-ever region title.

Chelsea Yates gave Bonny Eagle the early lead with a score at 4:34.

But Cheverus took control from there and the rest of the game was played mostly on the Scots end.

Nicole DeMidio scored in the final minute for Bonny Eagle.
