PORTLAND — Portland police are investigating the theft of about $60,000 in computers from the site of the new Ocean Avenue school that is under construction.

The theft was discovered this morning, police said. Scores of computers were being stored at the site in preparation for outfitting the school, police said.

The $14.2 million school is scheduled to open in January.

The burglary occurred between midnight and 2 a.m., police said.

The thieves stole 33 Apple IMACs and 45 Apple Mac Books. They were still in the boxes.
