BRUNSWICK — A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Monday night as he crossed Gurnet Road after retrieving his mail, according to police. 

Ronald A. Pottle, 66, of Gurnet Road, was struck by a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Douglas Self, 55, of Brunswick, about 6:15 p.m. Pottle was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland and later died from his injuries. Gurnet Road is also known as Route 24.

The crash is under investigation by the Police Department’s crash reconstruction unit. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Sgt. Russ Wrede at 725-5521.
