ORONO — Two University of Maine football players have been disciplined with one-game suspensions for separate incidents in Orono.

The Bangor Daily News reported today that junior defensive back Jerron McMillian and running back David Hood must also perform community service for violating the UMaine Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.

Interim athletic director Steve Abbott says Hood has already served his one-game suspension because the sanction was issued prior to the end of the 2010 season. McMillian is expected to sit out the first game of the 2011 season.

McMillian was arrested Dec. 4 after an altercation outside a nightclub and charged with disorderly conduct, assault and failure to submit to arrest. Hood was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault after a Nov. 7 incident in which Hood allegedly struck two 20-year-old women.
