BIDDEFORD — A 75-year-old Biddeford man faces felony drug charges after police arrested him and seized cocaine and prescription drugs from a secret compartment in his telephone book.

Biddeford police and agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency charged John J. Moschos, of 39 Sullivan St. with possession of cocaine, hydrocodone, Vicodin and marijuana. He was arrested Thursday morning, though police did not announce the arrest until today.

Moschos lives in a subsidized apartment building and police believe he has been selling drugs to other tenants and walk-in customers, Deputy Chief Joanne Fisk said. He is currently charged only with possession, however.

The investigation based on information collected by patrol officers responding to another incident, she said. Moschos is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 23.

Police found cocaine and prescription drugs hidden in a compartment cut from pages inside a telephone book, Fisk said.
