A Hollis man was transported to Maine Medical Center with minor injuries after colliding with a Bonny Eagle school bus on Tuesday morning.

According to the York County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on Bonny Eagle Road at the intersection of Hemlock Cove Road in Hollis at about 8:20 a.m.

According to police, Trevor Jacobs, 34, of Hollis, had just left his residence without properly defrosting the windshield of his 2002 Hyundai Accent. Combined with the frost and sun glare, Jacobs did not see the stopped school bus when his vehicle collided with the back of the bus, police investigators determined.

The Bonny Eagle school bus, driven by Sarah Marean, had just finished loading a student and was still stopped in the roadway with its red lights flashing when it was hit. There were 19 students (between kindergarten and fifth grade) on the bus. No injuries on the bus were reported, police report.
