PORTLAND – The Gorham girls basketball team couldn’t overcome a second quarter scoring drought on Saturday night, losing 39-30 to McAuley in a Class A West semifinal at the Cumberland County Civic Center.
The Rams were outscored 14-2 in the second as the Lions turned a 7-6 first quarter lead into a 21-8 advantage at the halftime break.
Down 32-16 after three, the Rams made a comeback attempt, going on a 9-0 run to open the fourth. But in the end, the Lions held on for the win and earned a berth in the Class A West final against top-seeded Deering on Monday night.
