GRAY — A tractor trailer crash on the Maine Turnpike in Gray has shut down the southbound passing lanes while hazardous material team cleans up spilled fluids..

State Police say the truck driver lost control and drove into the median. The northbound truck ended up jacknifed directly over the guardrail, with the cab headed south, said Trooper Duane Doughty.  No other vehicles were involved and there were no injuries.

Motorists should expect major delays, the turnpike authority said.

State Police also responded to a number of cars sliding off the road at noon in the area of Bowdoinham and Richmond, an area notorious for rapidly changing driving conditions, said Steve McCausland, spokesman for the State Police.

State Police also are on the scene of a two-vehicle fatal crash in Etna near Bangor that happened at about 11 a.m. Traffic was being detoured off the highway but there were few other details, police said.
