PORTLAND — A 31-year-old Portland man is going to jail for five months for stealing more than 60 laptop computers from an elementary school under construction near his home.
Henry Berry was sentenced today in Cumberland County Superior Court after pleading guilty to felony theft and a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession. According to WMTW-TV, he was also ordered to pay more than $17,000 in restitution to the Maine School Management Organization.
Police said Berry stole the Apple computers as contractors were working to finish construction on the Ocean Avenue Elementary School last fall. Investigators found many of the missing computers, as well as some marijuana, in a search of Berry’s home.
