Helping Uganda

Gray-New Gloucester High School has been holding a book drive for the last two weeks in order to raise money for the Invisible Children Organization. Invisible Children is a movement seeking to end the conflict in Uganda, and to stop the abduction of children for use as child soldiers. Their goal is to collect around 3,000 books and thanks to students, staff, and local libraries, over 2,000 books have been donated, counted, and packaged. Last Thursday a child from Uganda spoke at the school and sold bracelets as another way to help raise money as well as awareness to the great struggle going on in Africa. Gray-New Gloucester is one of the only the schools in Maine that recognizes this organization. Anyone who would like to make a donation can contact Karen Licht at klicht@msad15.org or call the school at 657-3323. Thanks to all those families that have helped make this one of the biggest fundraisers the school has ever had.
