ELIOT — The lawyer for a Maine developer hoping to open a club with nude dancing in Eliot is vowing an expensive legal battle if the town tries to block his plans.
But many town residents who attended a Thursday meeting of the Board of Selectmen urged officials to overhaul town ordinances so they can withstand the expected legal challenge.
Attorney Thomas Hallett of Portland said his client, Donald Denunzio, told the town of his plans in February to open a restaurant called the 403 Gentlemen’s Club with topless dancers and a separate area with live, fully nude dancing.
Hallett says his client is “open” to other proposals for the building, but he’s also ready to fight the town in court.
