The St. Joseph’s softball team earned the No. 6 seed in the New England Regional of the 2011 NCAA Division III tournament.
St. Joe’s (35-8) will play No. 3 Endicott College (35-6) at 2 p.m. Thursday at Rhode Island College in Providence.
It is the program’s first NCAA tournament berth. The Monks got an automatic bid following a 5-4 win over Rivier College in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference title game on May 1.
The tournament is double elimination and concludes 2 p.m. Sunday with the championship.
Thursday’s schedule: No. 1 Eastern Connecticut, the 2011 Little East Conference champs, will play No. 8 Husson University, the North Atlantic Conference champs, at 10 a.m.
No. 4 Rhode Island College (at-large bid) will play No. 5 Worcester State at noon.
And No. 2 Coast Guard Academy will play No. 7 Lesley College at 4 p.m.
