CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Jacob Stallings hit a three-run homer and Jesse Wierzbicki had an RBI single in the first inning as top-seeded North Carolina defeated fourth-seeded Maine 4-0 tonight in the opening round of the Chapel Hill Regional at Boshemer Stadium.

The Black Bears put their leadoff runner on four times but failed to score against freshman Kent
Emanuel (7-1), who allowed seven singles in eight innings.

Keith Bilodeau (10-3) allowed five hits in seven innings. He walked two and struck out six.

The Black Bears (32-23) will face No. 2 Florida International in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Saturday. FIU fell to No. 3 James Madison, 11-7.

UNC (46-14) is now 13-0 at home in the regional round since 2006.
