Another prom season has come and gone, but the glamorous memories live on in the snapshots. This week we present you with a collection of photos featuring Maine students sporting the season’s hottest styles.

While a handful of fashion-forward guys went with white, this year the black tuxedo again proved to be the favorite, with colorful vests and neckties the preferred accompaniments. By a small margin, girls favored long gowns, often with plunging necklines, cut-away waists and rhinestone embellishments. However, short hemlines appeared more often than in years past. Printed gowns made an even bigger showing than they did last year and bright, bold jewel tones continued to be the colors of choice.

After the call for photos went out, our inboxes were flooded with 233 photos submitted by students and parents at 35 schools. Many of the photos featured students attending proms in Greater Portland, but we also received photos from proms hosted by many other high schools, such as Madawaska and Camden Hills. See them by clicking here.

Enjoy these students’ sophisticated looks, and I’ll be back next week with more photos and dispatches from Maine’s social scene.
