The Disabled American Veterans DAV Mobile Service Office will be at Big Moose Harley-Davidson, 375 Riverside St., Portland, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 16. Counseling and claim filing assistance will be available and services are free to all veterans and their families. This event is offered in conjunction with the nationwide Harley’s Heroes tour. Veterans Advocate Services will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Cohen Center, 22 Town Farm Road, Hallowell. Bring a DD-214 form or other military paperwork. Casco Bay Council, Navy League is holding a lobster bake starting at 5 p.m. July 14 on the deck at Kennebec Tavern, Commercial Street, Bath. Cdr. Scott Sciretta will be telling sea stories. The 133rd Engineer Battalion, Maine Army National Guard recently celebrated the completion of 17 engineer projects throughout Maine during their annual training. Projects included the Fryeburg Academy Ball Field Project which involved clearing and grading 8.8 acres of land that will lead to construction of two soccer fields, a baseball/softball field, and a parking lot; the Spruce Mountain Ski Slope Project in Jay that required shaping the mountain terrain and improving drainage for the construction of a slalom ski course; and improvements at the YMCA Camp in Winthrop where cabins were renovated with pine interior sheathing, upgraded wiring and roof replacements.
