WATERFORD — A historic Maine inn where Judy Garland, Mickey Rooney and other Hollywood celebrities stayed has been sold at auction.

John DeLois of San Francisco bought the Lake House in Waterford for $250,000 on Thursday. The 61-year-old DeLois said he plans to move to Waterford, where his sister now lives, and open a restaurant on the property.

According to the Sun Journal of Lewiston, the 6,300-square-foot Lake House was built in the 1700s and used as an inn, then a private residence for many years before it again operated as an inn and restaurant until this year.

The property was foreclosed upon in April.
