PORTLAND — Three people from Massachusetts were arrested Monday following a drug-related stabbing on Ocean Avenue.
Police Lt. Gary Rogers said police were called to a reported robbery at 546 Ocean Ave. at around 8:30 a.m.
Upon arrival, Rogers said police discovered four people had sustained minor injuries during a dispute. All four were transferred to Maine Medical Center. Three of the victims had stab wounds and the other had an ankle injury.
“We believe it was drug-related,” Rogers said.
Rogers said Jeremy Frost, 22, of Dochester, Mass., was arrested on charges of assault and aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs – crack cocaine.
“We’re not releasing the amount (of crack),” Rogers said.
Frost is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $20,000 cash bail.
Rogers said police believe that 28-year-old Tiana Clark was responsible for the stabbings and was charged with aggravated assault.
Clark, who Rogers said also sustained stab wounds, is currently being held at Cumberland County Jail on $50,000 cash bail.
Camilia Clark, 23, of Dorchester, Mass., was arrested on a charge of assault and being held on $750 cash bail.
The crack bust is the third of its kind in recent days.
Rahman K. Williams, 29, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested in Scarborough by the Southern Maine SWAT team Aug. 10 on charges of trafficking scheduled drugs and possession of crack cocaine.
Jeremy S. Chappelle, age 22, of New York, N.Y., was arrested in Yarmouth Aug. 11 by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Yarmouth Police and charged with aggravated trafficking in Scheduled W drugs – crack.
Rogers said police are unsure whether the recent arrests are coincidental or are the result of an increase in drug activity in the area.
“It’s not unusual to see people come to Portland to peddle this stuff,” he said. “It’s a lot cheaper in bigger cities. We see a lot of people coming from New York set up shop here.”
