SACO — City officials from Saco and Biddeford met this morning to talk about ways they can collaborate.

A joint downtown festival and a joint marketing campaign were among the ideas that were discussed.

The meeting follows the inauguration of new Biddeford Mayor Alan Casavant and longtime Saco Mayor Mark Johnston.

Also at the meeting were city managers, economic development directors, code enforcement officers and a couple of city councilors.

Participants talked about promoting the communities as one city, similar to the promotional strategy used by Lewiston-Auburn.

The mayors vowed to continue to meet at least once a month.
