ICECAPS NOTES: An affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets in their first season of operation in Newfoundland, the IceCaps earned at least one point in each of their first 10 road games. … Defenseman Paul Postma, a third-year pro, began the team’s current six-game road trip with a five-game points streak. … Veteran right wing Jason King, who spent the 2007-08 season with Portland, had two goals and an assist back in October when the IceCaps split a two-game series with the Pirates in Newfoundland. … Defenseman Brett Festerling spent his first AHL season (2007-08) with the Pirates.

PIRATES NOTES: The Pirates will try to get back on track after the Manchester Monarchs snapped their five-game home-ice winning streak Wednesday night. … Since being assigned to Portland by the Phoenix Coyotes, veteran forward Patrick O’Sullivan has a goal and three assists in four games. … Center Brock Trotter, who has assisted on three goals against the IceCaps, has a four-game points streak. … Marc-Antoine Pouliot had a goal and two assists against the IceCaps in the October series.
