WESTBROOK – John Toland scored 21 points in a balanced offense Friday night, and South Portland held on for a 57-51 victory against Westbrook in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game at Warren Gym.

Logan Gaddar had 12 points, Jordan Muller chipped in 11 and Ben Burkey ended with 10 for South Portland (3-0).

Zachery Bean had 10 points for Westbrook (2-1), which trailed much of the game after falling behind 17-7 in the first quarter, but pulled within 46-44 midway through the fourth.

BRUNSWICK 54, EDWARD LITTLE 48: Mitch Black’s jumper from the foul line provided a 46-45 lead with 55 seconds to play, and the Dragons went on to down the Red Eddies (2-1) at Brunswick.

Konnor Scarponi had 17 points, five steals and four assists, and Black scored 13 points for Brunswick. Quin Leary had 17 points, Nate Alexander 11 and Sean Ford 10 for Edward Little.

KENNEBUNK 58, NOBLE 33: David Kerschensteiner had 13 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Rams (1-2) over Noble (0-3) at Kennebunk.

Kerschensteiner went 7 of 7 from the foul line, and Austin Sandler and Chris Hynes added 10 points each for Kennebunk. Hynes also had four steals.

BOOTHBAY REGION 75, MADISON 58: Anthony DiMauro scored 19 points for Boothbay Region (2-1), which used a 21-12 second-quarter run to take a 41-32 lead against the Bulldogs (1-1) at Madison.

The Seahawks also got 13 points from Kameron Markee, 12 from Ben Dickinson and 11 from Linc Simmons.

Austin Kane scored 31 points for Madison. Lamont Flanders added 10.

ERSKINE ACADEMY 56, MT. ARARAT 45: Erskine Academy (2-1) hit 23 of 36 free throws to get past Mt. Ararat (0-3) at Topsham.

Thomas Grady led Erskine with 17 points. Devin Duncan added 13.

Dylan Cole and Brett Martin scored 10 points each for Mt. Ararat.

SANFORD 58, GORHAM 43: Ryan Camire scored 21 points for Sanford (2-1) against visiting Gorham (0-3).

Sanford, which used a 21-9 run in the second quarter for a 31-20 halftime lead, outrebounded the Rams, 40-20.

Alex Shain had 10 rebounds, Jimmie Chaisson had nine boards to go with 11 points, and Jon Schroder had 10 points and seven rebounds for Sanford.

Kyle Nealey led the Rams with 11 points.

MARSHWOOD 60, SCARBOROUGH 51: Dan Veino hit consecutive 3-pointers as Marshwood (2-1), down 18-9 after the first quarter, took the lead at 51-49 and went on to beat the Red Storm (1-2) at Scarborough.

Marshwood chipped away through the middle periods, cutting the deficit to 33-29 by the half and 43-40 entering the fourth period, then won it with a 20-8 run.

Jack Verrill led Marshwood with 13 points, and Veino scored 11.

MARANACOOK 58, MORSE 35: Kyle Boucher and Seth Miller combined for 22 points to lead the Black Bears (1-2) past the Shipbuilders (1-1) at Readfield.

BONNY EAGLE 56, THORNTON ACADEMY 38: Bonny Eagle (3-0) held the Golden Trojans (1-2) scoreless in the first quarter, then cruised at Saco.

Cole Libby led the Scots with 22 points. Dustin Cole finished with 18.

BIDDEFORD 56, WINDHAM 44: Robert Cote scored 27 points and the Tigers (1-2) outscored the Eagles (1-2) 36-24 in the second half at Windham.

Cote scored eight points, including two 3-pointers, in the third quarter when the Tigers used a 10-0 run to go ahead 40-31.

DEERING 82, MASSABESIC 31: Jon Amabile had 26 points with five steals as the Rams (3-0) handled the Mustangs (1-2) at Portland.

Labson Abwoch had 18 points and eight rebounds, Patrick Green added nine points, and Chhorda Chhorn and Thiwat Thiwat finished with eight points apiece.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 64, GARDINER 53: Isaac Greenrose had 22 points and four assists as Medomak Valley (2-1) beat Gardiner (2-1) at Waldoboro.
