BRUNSWICK — The Brunswick Parks and Recreation Department and the Maine Red Claws held its annual “Hot Shot” contest on Tuesday, with several athletes participating.

The competition consisted of five “ Hot Shot” spots, with participants having three one-minute rounds to score.

In the 9-10 boys, Coenradt Taylor and Jalen Rogers finished tied with 51 points, with Taylor winning the tiebreaker. Marley Groat’s 89 points was tops in the 9-10 girls, with Charlotte MacMillan’s 59 points earning runner-up honors.

Nathan Benoit edged Finn Mitchell, 84-80, to capture the 11-12 boys, with Brooke Barter’s 52 points winning the 11-12 girls. The runner-up was Anna Kousky.

In the 13-15 boys, Caleb Cost had the highest score of the day, recording 107 points. Alan Molnar was second with 84 points.

The winners and runners-up qualified to compete at Bath on March 4 in the regional competition. The state championship is slated for March 11 at the Portland Expo.
