BANGOR — A Maine timber management company is offering to donate a privately owned parcel around picturesque Katahdin Lake to Baxter State Park.

Huber Resources Corp. of Old Town says it will give the land free of charge. The Bangor Daily News says the exact size of the property wasn’t immediately available, but is estimated at 90 to 160 acres.

The offer comes more than five years after Baxter State Park officials accepted the deed to about 4,000 acres surrounding Katahdin Lake. But that deal didn’t include two small parcels that remained privately owned, the larger of which is owned by Huber Resources.

The Baxter State Park Authority will vote Jan. 12 on whether to accept the donation.
