BATH — Bath police are asking for the public’s help in locating a person of interest, who they would like to question about the death of a local man.

Police Chief Michael W. Field said 31-year-old Mark Watrous is wanted for questioning in connection with the death of 35-year-old Sean Duffy.

Duffy’s body was found inside a room at the Hampton Inn on Commercial Street Saturday afternoon. Duffy worked and lived in the Bath area.

The preliminary cause of death – the state medical examiner’s office has not rendered a final ruling – appears to be an overdose involving prescription drugs that were illegally obtained.

Bath police detectives want to question Watrous about events leading up to Duffy’s death. Watrous is also being sought by police on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to appear in court for a motor vehicle offense.

Anyone with information concerning Watrous’ whereabouts is asked to contact Bath detectives at 443-8367.

Field said his department remains concerned about the persistent crisis of prescription drug abuse in Maine. Anyone seeking information or help with addiction should contact Mid Coast Hospital’s Addiction Resource Center at 1-800-244-3805.
