FREEPORT — The Western Maine Conference has released its weekly statistical high school basketball leaders.

The Freeport girls, currently 5-5, are ranked second in scoring with 48.3 points per game, just behind undefeated Lake Region’s 52.4 average. The Falcons have struggled defensively, allowing a league worse 46.5 points a contest, with the Lakers on top at 32.3.

Individually, Freeport sophomore Nina Davenport is second in scoring to Waynflete’s Martha Veroneau. Davenport is averaging 19.3 points a contest, while Veroneau stands at 20.0.

Davenport is fourth in rebounds per game ( 10.9), sixth in assists (3.3) and second in steals (5.3). Teammate Leigh Wyman leads the WMC in steals with 5.7 a contest, and is currently fourth in assists (3.6).

The Freeport girls host Wells tonight at 7 p.m. and Gray-New Gloucester Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

The Freeport boys are 11th in the WMC in scoring at 47.5, with York leading the way at 63.9. The Falcon boys, like the girls, are at the bottom of the conference in points allowed at 63.9, with Waynflete the best when in comes to defense at 38.2.

Guard Landon Easler is eighth in assists (2.9), while teammate Josh Weirich is ninth in rebounds (6.9).

The Falcon boys are on the road this weekend, first visiting Wells tonight ( 7 p. m.) before heading to Gray-NG on Saturday at 5 p.m.
