Wolfe’s Neck Woods State Park offers nature programs year-round every weekend. This week’s program focuses on the wonder of Maine’s pine tree forest. The Appalachian Mountain Club is again offering its international dinner and adventure series, featuring cuisine from another culture and a guest speaker who tells an adventure from that region of the world. Come join Mid-Coast Audubon for a presentation on environmental efforts. Bill Pearce, a local environmental activist, will share a number of ways he’s helped local organizations find green solutions. The talk is at the Waldoboro Public Library on 958 Main St. The program is free and open to the public.

Future of Farms

7 p.m. in Tenants Harbor

John Piotti, executive director of Maine Farmland Trust, will speak at the St. George town office in Tenants Harbor on the future of farms. If you enjoy locally grown vegetables, fruits and dairy products, the presentation may provide some insight. The talk is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided. Kids Fishing Day

8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Waldoboro

The Lincoln County Fish and Game Association is offering a free fishing derby. The derby will take place at Big Medomak Pond, at 3821 Washington Road across from Morse’s Sauerkraut and European Deli in North Waldoboro. Fishermen will be on hand to help novice youth ice fishermen. For more information, call 380-2428.

Kids Derby

8 a.m. to noon, Poland

As part of the Sebago derby fun, a kids derby will be held at Range Pond State Park in Poland. Free ice fishing equipment for the first 500 youth who register, compliments of Kittery Trading Post. For more information, go to www.icefishingderby.com.
